  • Oppo Find X7 Ultra and X7 announced: Next-gen. voguish phones with extraordinary cameras, top performance

The very first question that popped up in the mind was, how do we order these phones? What do we call them? We thought of the following:

    • “Finally, some real iPhone alternatives.”
    • “Genuine ultra-modern, comforting lifestyle flagships.”
    • “Hasselblad camera masters.”
    • “Jeans phones.” (yeah that made sense, like one of those 90s jeans but reimagined)
    • “No need to think. Let’s just get them.”

The Oppo Find series has always been extraordinary. We still remember the time when Oppo Find X came out in the year 2018. It was a very delicate phone with a motorized pop-up selfie camera. That completely rocked the market back then. But then it started to lose its charm till the Oppo Find X6 and X6 Pro came out last year. These were impressive devices. But this year the brand takes the matter very seriously to present Oppo Find X7 Ultra and Oppo Find X7. It’s more like a jump from retro to post-modern, and boy, how gorgeous these phones are. You look at them and notice the masterclass craft almost subconsciously. It’s made with so much comfort and that radiates all over it, with a lot of charm and pure class. Let’s just get into them individually. But first let’s have a look at the prices:

    X7 Ultra

    12/256 GB – CNY ¥5999 | BDT 92,700 | USD $847

    16/256 GB – CNY ¥6499 | BDT 100,200 | USD $915

    16/512 GB – CNY ¥6999 | BDT 107,900 | USD $985

    X7

    12/256 GB – CNY ¥3999 | BDT 61,700 | USD $563

    16/256 GB – CNY ¥4299 | BDT 66,300 | USD $605

    16/512 GB – CNY ¥4599 | BDT 70,900 | USD $648

    16GB/1TB – CNY ¥4999 | BDT 77,100 | USD $704

The design really caught us here. It’s one of those art pieces where you keep looking and feel like if you try to express it with words, it won’t sound good enough. So, you keep trying to form your thoughts in a higher dimension, like poetry. We got pure abstract poetry right here, in its design. What a creation and a marvel of technology. We really think that trying to describe the design would be unfitting in the small scope of this article, so, we’re going to skip this part and let you make an opinion for yourself.

    Oppo Find X7 Ultra screen

The build quality and the display, there isn’t much to talk about them. You’ll get all the latest flagship features with solid durability. Overall, there is no concern about them at all. In the camera section, we got something new. There are four cameras at the back and all of them are 50 Megapixels each. Okay, that’s something to start with. Then we got two periscope lenses, one having 65mm size and up to 2.8x optical zoom and another one is 135mm with 6x optical zoom. These will be useful depending on the scenario you want to capture. There is also a 123º ultrawide shooter. You can check out some photos below provided by Oppo to illustrate its camera capability.

Oppo Find X7 Ultra camera sample1

The selfie camera is 32 MP and we can’t say too much about it right now without checking out some hands-on video reviews (or if we get the chance to check it out). But it should also be pretty good given the price and the main camera configuration. There are stable 4K@60fps video recording options for both cameras. The rear camera additionally provides HDR, 10‑bit video and Dolby Vision. So, this looks like a complete camera package that can support you for at least a couple of years or more.

    Oppo Find X7 Ultra chipset

The performance area is pretty organized. There is not much to say here as well, like the screen and its build quality. Latest top-notch Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset from Qualcomm is used and you’ll get Android 14. The 5000 mAh battery has a 100W charger and 50W wireless charging system. There is Wi-Fi 7, 5G, UFS 4.0 storage, so basically all are of the latest standard. An added feature is the emergency SOS via satellite, which will push the value of the device further up.

    Oppo Find X7

    Oppo Find X7 design orange

This can sound strange, but true that you may like this lower configuration phone X7 more than the Ultra version. First reason, the price is much lower. Then the design looks very similar, slightly less premium though, but still very gorgeous. The screen resolution and size are a little reduced and that’s just a fact. The rear camera quality is also reduced, especially in terms of the periscope lenses. However, frankly, not a lot of consumers would need that kind of advanced double periscope lens. Here we got a single 64 MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and it will still work great.

It gets interesting in the performance section. Well, the battery and charging remain the same, but the wireless and reverse charging are gone (again, most of us wouldn’t need them anyway). But the chipset is a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 which performs better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 used in the Ultra model. On paper, you are getting better performance in this one despite having a lower cost. Here, of course, we have to see real time tests for confirmation. But there shouldn’t be any vast difference. These are both the highest performing chipsets in the industry. But the point is, for the lower price, you aren’t losing much and in some cases; you are gaining. It also has a very nice purple color, which is very much of our liking. Both phones have a cooling system, so no worries about any heating issues.

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 series announcement is scheduled for 17th January: What do we know so far

Samsung has officially confirmed that their new Galaxy S24 series smartphones will be unveiled on 17th January 2024. Three smartphones are expected: Galaxy S24Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, pretty much the same lineup as last year. Some information about these phones has already leaked. These are all still considered rumors since the official announcement hasn’t happened yet. However, we can make a picture about what to expect so far.

    Samsung Galaxy S24 series specs

    Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

    Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra purple

Leaked images show that the phone has a full flat or boxy shape. There is no presence of any sort of curve at all. Some may have concerns that if the fabric of your pants is too light and soft, the corners of the phone may damage your pants under certain conditions. We haven’t seen any real hands-on reviews, but this is a valid concern right now. Nevertheless, it looks pretty bold.

This is coming with a trendy and durable titanium frame which may also reduce the weight of the gadget compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The screen is expected to be a 6.8” Dynamic AMOLED 2X with 2600 nits peak brightness and QHD+ resolution. The camera module on the back is supposed to carry fivee different lenses. A 200 MP main lens is going to be accompanied by four different telephoto lenses of which the strongest one will have 10X optical zoom (100x Space Zoom)

It will have the so-called “Galaxy AI” feature as shown in the official teaser. This will be mainly used to improve performance and offer features such as Live Translation. There will be a big vapor chamber for an advanced cooling system. This is in prime focus since the latest iPhone 15 Pro Max and Xiaomi 14 Pro, both latest flagships with a titanium frame are showing heating issues. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is going to be used with 12 GB RAM and 256 or 512 GB storage variants. The battery capacity will be 5000 mAh and the fast charger will take about half an hour to charge the phone from 0 to 65%. The S-Pen remains and we’ll have Emergency SOS via satellite feature as seen in the latest Apple phones.

    Galaxy S24+

    Samsung Galaxy S24+ silver

This one is coming with curved edges and this might be a relief for some. The frame here is made with Armor Aluminum 2.0, which is a tougher grade aluminum than the regular ones. We are expecting a 6.7-inch screen with the same resolution, brightness and technology as the Ultra model. The camera is reduced to a 50 MP main lens accompanied by two telephoto lenses with 2x and 3x optical zoom. This is also coming with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship chipset. There may also be an Exynos 2400 chipset for some countries. The battery size is 4900 mAh and the charging time is similar.

    Galaxy S24

    Samsung Galaxy S24 gold

This one is very similar to the S24+ model, but the screen is a smaller 6.2” and the resolution is Full HD instead of Quad HD. The RAM size here is also reduced to 8 GB and you’ll have a lower 128 GB storage option. The battery size is just 4000 mAh but since the screen size is much smaller and the resolution is also lower, the battery life wouldn’t be that lower compared to the above models.

All of these devices are IP68 rated water resistant and will ship with the latest Android 14 version.

  • OnePlus Ace 3 announced in China: Classy style meets latest software and upgraded performance

There are many things that excite us about the new OnePlus Ace 3. The Ace series has always been pretty bold, which is the first thing that we like about this series. Despite being bold, it is not boastful. These aren”t even front-line flagships. But the X-Factor is present here, which is an essential element for success these days and it’s not easy to create. OnePlus has done it again with their 3rd generation Ace phone. First, let us have a look at its pricing:

    12/256 GB – CNY ¥2599 | BDT 40,000 | USD $366

    16/512 GB – CNY ¥2999 | BDT 46,200 | USD $423

    16 GB/1 TB – CNY ¥3499 | BDT 53,900 | USD $493

    OnePlus Ace 3 black teaser

As we have already mentioned that this is more of a modest flagship-killer rather than a proper flagship. But that’s why we like it more. It’s accessible for many more consumers and frankly, a lot of them do not need any max-grade phone. For this price, OnePlus did not compromise at all in its design. Fabulous, classy, stunning, all these adjectives will fit well with it. Not just the design, we have a very strong aircraft-grade aluminum-alloy metal frame, glass back with matte finish and a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protected screen. There is no mention of any splash resistance, but the brand did mention that the touch function of the screen works well even with raindrops on it. So, we assume the phone should be splash resistant altogether. But they didn’t provide any IP rating, perhaps to cut the cost a bit.

    OnePlus Ace 3 screen

The 6.78 large screen has no missing features. You are getting everything that you’d expect from a device like this. The LTPO AMOLED technology is well-known for less power consumption. There is 1.5K resolution with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for excellent visuals. The cameras aren’t its main features, but we are getting a decent 50 MP primary shooter with a well-known Sony IMX890 sensor. So, photography would be fine. There is also up to 4K@60fps video recording capability. Its 16 MP selfie camera is nothing impressive and if selfies are very important to you, you’ll surely find better deals than this at this budget range.

    OnePlus Ace 3 chipset

For performance, we are provided with a 4 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 12 or 16 GB RAM and Aerospace Grade VC Cooling. So, if you are a gamer who is into the fusion of this classy design, this is an amazing fit. Battery capacity is pretty good with 5500 mAh size and a 100W fast charger is included in the box, which takes a maximum of around half an hour to fully charge the device. It comes in black, blue and rose gold colors.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G series arrives in India: What’s different from the Chinese models?

Xiaomi announced the 2024 rockers Redmi Note 13 5G trio in India today. We have to mention “5G models” because some of these phones have 4G models as well, which are released elsewhere. These Indian 5G models will go on sale from 10th January 2024 and the prices are already announced. They are the following:

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 gold
*Approximate currency conversion rate in Bangladeshi Taka

The pricing in India and China is quite different, as it was expected. The Chinese prices are lower, but that’s because Xiaomi has headquarters in China so, that’s how it should be. But we have noticed a few differences in the Indian models. Let us mention them to you.

    Redmi Note 13 5G

While the China variant of this device has no ultrawide lens for the rear camera, the Indian model includes an 8 MP additional ultrawide lens. This is, of course, highly appreciated. Notice the difference in the camera module below:

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G black
    China

We also have a very fancy, luxurious-looking Prism Gold color. But the blue color isn’t available.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 gold
    New Prism Gold color

    Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro colors
    China

Here we are not seeing any visible change or change in specifications except just one. The blue color is also removed here.

    Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+s camo green teaser
Camo Green Limited Edition (China only)

Here we haven’t noticed any change as well. But the special Camo Green Edition isn’t available in India. This could be because Xiaomi partnered with the brand Aape to make that special Edition which is a Chinese brand so, it’s sort of logical that they couldn’t make the same production for India.

There is one more change in all three models and they are that Xiaomi is delivering their new HyperOS UI right out of the box. The China versions have MIUI 14 and they may receive HyperOS in the future but that’s not confirmed yet.

  • Itel A70 unveiled at under 10,000 Tk. budget with Dynamic Bar and a fine design

    itel A70 teaser

itel continues to impress the lower budget phone buyers with a stylish new release named itel A70. Right now, it is available in one single 4/128 GB variant for BDT 9,990 Taka. The phone has four different color options: Brilliant Gold, Starlish Black, Field Green and Azure Blue.

    itel A70 design

At the moment there are not many latest smartphones priced under 10,000 Taka and competitive options are very limited. So, this is an exciting release for us. We are getting an Android 13 phone with upgraded design. The glossy back panel design looks stunning. On top of that, it has a matt finish so it doesn’t attract fingerprints.

    itel A70 dynamic bar
    Dynamic Bar feature

Then the V-Notch is upgraded to a dynamic bar notch. This is the lowest priced dynamic bar smartphone in the Bangladesh market right now. This feature became popular with the Apple iPhone 15 series. Lately, Infinix released the lower budget Smart 8 phone with a similar feature but that will cost you BDT 10,499. However, Infinix offers a punch-hole bar with ring flash and a better T606 processor so you may check that out as well.

    itel A70 camera

But let’s stick to itel here. We have checked out photo samples from some reviewers and you can check for yourself on YouTube as well. They looked great for the price. We are talking about both the front and back cameras. If you are looking for a combination of latest design and fine cameras under 10K price, this one is a very strong choice.

    itel A70 main features

The chipset is a Unisoc T603 one. This has puzzled us because we never saw this chipset before. It’s not very common. Usually we see a Unisoc T606 chipset around this price, for example in the Symphony Z60 model. This is another fine competitor of itel A70 by the way but that runs on older Android 12 version. itel is giving something more fresh. But still Unisoc T603 performs lower than the T606. As a user who values performance greatly, we will definitely choose a phone with T606 chipset over a T603 one.

  • Xiaomi brings the newer Redmi 12C. Is it worth it?

Xiaomi Redmi 10C has been one of the more successful lower-budget smartphones from Xiaomi for the last few months. Now, Xiaomi brings the new Redmi 12C. The phone is priced at ৳15,999 for its 6/128 GB model.

So, what has changed? firstly, we still have the same big 6.71 inches HD+ display. This is one of the biggest displays you can find which is a good thing. But you could expect a Full HD+ display at this price but HD+ isn’t unfair let’s say. There is no 90Hz refresh rate which is definitely a downside. Last year in the Redmi 10C, we had a Gorilla Glass protection on the front which is gone now. The design looks ordinary with a waterdrop-notch on the front. The back is made of plastic. It looks elegant and simplistic but nothing catchy or extraordinary. It’s also 8.8 mm thick, not the thinnest in the market.

The main back camera is 50 MP. The 0.08 MP depth sensor, there is nothing to say about it. The camera should provide pretty satisfactory results. However, the 5 MP front camera is very average and not recommendable at all at this price. You will surely find better front cameras on other phones even at a much lower budget than this. Both cameras can record Full HD videos.

There is Android 12 now instead of Android 11. It’s a fine and well-needed update. The chipset is a MediaTek Helio G85 which is pretty good. But last year’s Redmi 10C had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G which offers better CPU performance and battery life. But surprisingly, they have the same gaming score according to nanoreview which is impressive. Many of us perceive the Snapdragon 680 4G to be a much more powerful chipset than the Helio G85 since the Snapdragon 680 4G chipset is still being used in some mid-range smartphones. A big disappointment is that now we have a slower eMMC 5.1 ROM compared to the previous UFS 2.2 one. The 5000 mAh battery has just a 10W charger which is pretty average as well. A 18W charger was very expected.

Among other features, we have a back-mounted fingerprint sensor placed next to the camera, a MicroUSB port (no USB Type-C), FM Radio and so on. Overall, this is a very overpriced phone from Xiaomi and we can’t recommend it at all to our readers.

  • Techo Spark 10C released with up to 8 GB RAM

The new Tecno Spark series smartphone Tecno Spark 10C is available in Bangladesh. There are two different varients of this phone. 4/128 GB priced at ৳11,990 and then the 8/128 GB version which will cost you ৳13,490

The phone looks good on the surface. there is a typical waterdrop notch on the front but it doesn’t look cheap. The back part looks quite elegant with a bold camera setup and minimal look with no back-mounted fingerprint sensor (the fingerprint sensor is placed on the side).

The display is a 6.6 inches HD+ one which supports 90Hz refresh rate. This is a great feature considering the price. Gaming and general usage will be much more smooth, but 90Hz refresh rate also consumes a lot of battery so many prefer to use in the default 60Hz refresh rate settings.

The back camera has a 16 MP main lens and the front camera is of 8 MP. Both cameras can record Full HD videos and both hav dual-LED flash.

There is a 5000 mAh big battery with 18W fast charging. This surely deserves a complement since most phones at this price point offer only 10W charging although there are a few exceptions. The chipset is a Unisoc T606 one. It fits well with the 4 GB RAM model and not a very suitable and smooth chipset for the 8 GB model. We definitely recommend the 4 GB model of the phone over the 8 GB model.

Apart from the above mentioned features, we have 128 GB internal storage, dedicated MicroSD slot, USB Type-C, FM Radio and so on.

  • OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G available with good pricing and features

A new smartphone from the OnePlus Nord CE series named OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G hits the Bangladeshi market with a price tag of ৳35,990 for the 8/128 GB model and ৳37,990 for the 8/256 GB model.

OnePlus Nord series gained a good amount of attention worldwide with its good performance specs and attractive pricing. The Nord CE 3 Lite is a fine add to that concept. The device looks attractive. It has a center punch-hole display on the front which is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. The backside is made of plastic but it looks premium with a unique and minimal OnePlus design. The display is a big 6.72 inches Full HD+ IPS LCD one. An AMOLED display could definitely be better and this is one of the weaknesses of this phone. But the display supports up to 120Hz refresh rate which is a fine advantage.

The back camera has a main 108 MP lens and the front camera is of 16 MP. There is no 4K video recording option and you have to be satisfied with maximum Full HD video recording quality. The cameras are nothing extraordinary but it can do its job just fine and its a fair choice considering the price.

The 5000 mAh battery has a super fast 67W charging facility which can charge the phone from 0-80% in just about 30 minutes. As a chipset, we have a fine 6 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset paired with 8 GB RAM. There is 5G connectivity of course and we have the latest Android 13. At least two further major Android update is expected (up to Android 15).

There is a shared MicroSD slot, stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, USB Type-C etc. among other features.

  • Low-budget itel A60S released with 4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM

itel Mobile Bangladesh brings another new smartphone namely itel A60S to the market and this time it’s a low-budget one. The device is priced at ৳8,990 and is available in Glacier Green and Shadow Black colors.

The phone is coming with a fine design and a so-called lenticular texture back. It looks pretty nice given the cost. There is a large 6.6 inches HD+ waterdrop notch display on the front. Overall it gets a good mark regarding design and display. However, under sunlight, the brightness of the screen isn’t that good which is a normal thing in low-cost gadgets.

The back camera is a dual 8 MP + QVGA one which can capture decent shots. There is no Full HD video recording option and you have to be satisfied with maximum HD (720p@30fps) resolution. On the front, there is a 5 MP camera.

itel A60S is running on the Android 12 Go version which is a light and up-to-date OS. There is 4 GB RAM as well as a 4 GB extended RAM option. But even then the performance specs are still pretty ordinary given that the device is using a 28 nm Unisoc SC9863A chipset, PowerVR GE8322 GPU and up to 1.6 GHz Octa-core CPU. The big plus here is really that you are getting 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage when most other phones are offering 2 or 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. There is a 5000 mAh big battery and a 10W charger which will take about 3 hours to charge the phone from 0 to 100%.

Among other features, there is a back-mounted fingerprint sensor, MicroUSB, OTG, Dual SIM, Face Unlock and so on.

Back to top button
